autofest_bus_2009aThis past weekend, Auto World hung out with fellow slot car and die-cast enthusiasts in South Bend, IN at the Century Center for Autofest 2009. On Friday the 14th, there was a dinner for 150 collectors and fans of the die-cast and slot car hobby. We, and other sponsors of the event gave a presentation to show off our current and upcoming product. As a bonus to the dinner attendees, there was a giveaway bag full of exclusive Autofest collectibles from several manufactures. Auto World donated an exclusive run of 150 VW Samba Bus X-Tractions. It featured a white chassis and exclusive Autofest tampos factory sealed in an X-Traction jewel case. We all had a lot of fun meeting familiar faces from years’ past and getting to know new people at the event!

Also, Tony our product manager, and Tom the company founder, showed off their cars at the car show! Tom has a beautiful bright orange 1970 Superbird, and Tony made show-goers jealous with his 1969 Camaro that he drag races regularly. He IS faster than you, so stop thinking about it…  :)

Lastly, we had a small table set up where we were happy to discuss anything and everything collectors may have on their minds. Jason, one of our guys who keeps our warehouse running smoothly,  is shown here in the pic. It was a good time and we look forward to seeing all of you next year!!

I know the Autofest was some time ago. Autoworld’s presentation at the Fest Feast was a good one. Looking forward to the Drag Race Set when it’s released.

But I’d like to see Autoworld come out with a Supercar Release. The cars I’m talking about here are the Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari 599, Pagani Zonda F, Aston Martin Vanquish, Marcos TSO GT2, Ascari KZ1, Maserati MC12, and Mercedes SLR.

These are european cars, but I think they would be a hit.

Sounds good but add the Dodge Viper ACR and Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 both of which have run faster around the Nurburgring than any of the European cars you spoke of at a fraction of the price and with much more reliability.

I would think no Supercar slot car set would not be fully complete without these also like the Saleen S7, Ford GT and the fastest street car in the world, the SSC Ultimate Aero all of which were designed and built in the USA.
