start_gate3Later this year, we will release the most exciting slot car race set ever. 1:64 slot car drag racing is coming from Auto World! If you have been itching for a working drag racing christmas tree and finish line for your 1:64 race sets, look no further. We have this scheduled to be available early 2010.

Features of this set include:

  • Working LED christmas tree
  • 2 race modes: Pro and Sportsman authentically timed to NHRA regulation
  • Foul light sensor to prevent early starts
  • 2 variable speed controllers and UL approved power pack
  • Electronic finish line with win indicator
  • Two BRAND NEW authentic Funny Car or Pro Stock racers
  • 12 feet of race track (track extends easily for longer dragstrip action)
  • Scale speeds over 300mph
  • Cars safely stop at end of track

This track is compatible with all of our existing race sets, so you can make your dragstrip as long as you like! When we did our initial testing, we set up a nearly 35-foot dragstrip! We could hardly put the controllers down it was so much fun.

Take a look at these pics of the early tooling mockups we used for testing. (Of course these are pretty rough and will have the wiring fully hidden in production) This is exclusive to this blog and never seen anywhere else!

Using our 4Gear chassis, we have tooled 3 new racers; 2 funny cars and a pro stock. Shown here are the very first test shots.

This most definitely looks promising!! The pro stock body looks a bit more appealing to me. Maybe in full dress the funny cars will look better.. Keep up the great work and you’ll have a winner here for sure!

This really looks exciting. I hope this Drag Racing set is out in time for Christmas. This has alot of potential, Autoworld could make cars from the 60′s, and 70′s.

I see myself and grandsons spending hours racing each other with this set.

This could be the most exciting new slot car item in a long time. Be careful with the scale. The test shot cars look like they are on the 4 gear chassis. The cars and the accessories need to be in scale with other cars and items produced both current and vintage.
Vintage drag cars will be just as popular if not more popular than modern cars. This has a huge potential for growing the hobby.

Where / When can I get one!!!
    This look like fun.

  5. Dyno says:

This looks AWESOME!!! I hope it will be compatible with a timing system or include one. Knowing who wins with lights is great, but knowing the ET would be even better..hint hint.
Regardless, I want it. Bracket racing capability would be a huge plus too, for all the slow pokes out there…(Jimmy R.)

This looks excellent! Can’t wait to try it out with the new drag cars! Timing would be a definite plus that way you can tune the cars and tell if the times improve. Keep up the great work!

We’ll its about time….thank you A/W sounds like you are doing it right. PLEASE! make it fully functional even if the timing system is an add on for the more serious racers. One more thing can i preorder? No, I’m not joking…..

How’s it going! I just happened to stumble across this page and I just wanta say this is the slot car track of my dreams!!! I remember racing my cars in my parents basement as a kid wishing I had a real timing system with a fully functioning tree and E.T.!!! I would definitely buy this and as someone who races sportsman classes on the weekends during the NHRA racing season, this would be awesome to have during the off season! Can’t wait to get a hold of one…

  9. SAMUS says:

I put on my Sants’s list
Hope he get it in time

  10. YEPPER says:

I REALLY HOPE THEY DO IT RIGHT!!!????
THE 1/64 SCALE NEEDS THIS JUST LIKE WHAT YOU CAN GET FOR THE 1/24 SCALE CARS….
IF THEY NEED ANY HELP ON INFO OR SOME R&D ON WHAT IS NEEDED TO MAKE IT WORTH IT ,PLEASE E-MAIL ME!!!!!!
I HAVE PICS AND VIDEO OF MY SETUP IF IT WILL HELP YOU…
    YEPPER@ZOOMINTERNET.NET

I MADE ONE MYSELF OUT OF A OLD HOTWHEELS SETUP BUT WOULD LIKE TO SEE MORE OF A DISPLAY LIKE –REACTION,60′ 1/8, TRAP SPEED AND 1/4 TIMES WITH WIN LIGHTS ON THE BIG END. JUST LIKE IF I WAS AT A REAL TRACK..
MY SET UP IS OK BUT,I COULD USE A BETTER SET UP.
AFEW BUDDYS AND I RACE ON IT ALL THE TIME. MY SETUP HAS A STARTING LINE THAT YOU CAN REDLIGHT FROM AN IT HAS A TREE ALSO WITH THE TIMES YOUR CAR RAN IN THE 1/4 MILE WITH A WIN LIGHT ON THE BIGEND BUT IT NEEDS MORE….

Thank you! this is the most exciting race set I have been wanting for as long as I have been involved with slot cars. I can’t wait till this is available. I hope this will include tech specs on all the techno speek of timing just like the ESPN Drag racing and break it down, so it makes more sense. Keep up the good work.

  12. Derek snowden says:

where to get this racing set from ?
    I’v been looking for it
can some one tell me where to get it at what stor?

  13. MrSlotracer says:

My all-time favorite Christmas present was from my childhood… the 60s… an Eldon Top Eliminator Drag Racing Set. I paid $40 for it at a day-after-Christmas sale. It was a 1/32 scale set with 40ft of track and a real functioning Christmas tree system. The cars were both AA Fuelers. It used a wind up mechanism that ran the lights and could tell if you left too early and you’d get a red light for your lane. To have a modern day version in 1/64 scale would be fantastic. I’ll get one for sure.

  14. MrAFX says:

What about replacement chassis and extra tires etc?

I see my children running the wheels off of this toy!

Also, how can we get reasonablly priced replacement chassis for the regular cars?

Hop up parts for social type racers would be nice… ie wheels tires different blowers.
